WRAP Cymru and Carbon Trust to deliver free resource efficiency support for Welsh businesses and public sector bodies

31st October 2014
  • Organisations form powerful new consortium to win £1 million resource efficiency work
  • First time the Carbon Trust and WRAP Cymru have worked together in this way
  • Contracts are among the first to be awarded under Welsh Government’s new resource efficiency framework

The Carbon Trust and WRAP Cymru announce today [31 October] that they are to work in partnership to help Welsh public sector organisations and businesses of all sizes to become more resource efficient.

The collaboration will deliver Client Manager Services to businesses (including third sector businesses) and public sector organisations as part of the Welsh Government’s Resource Efficient Wales service, announced this week. The two contracts are worth a total of £1,037,830 across an initial 18 month period.

Participating organisations will receive support to reduce their energy, water, resource use and waste, helping them take advantage of the opportunities of resource efficiency. They will also be able to learn about additional sources of support from the Welsh Government.   This will help them save money, and help Wales to meet its resource efficiency and sustainable development goals.

Richard Rugg, Managing Director of Programmes at the Carbon Trust commented:

“For the past 12 years the Carbon Trust has worked alongside the Welsh Government to help to cut 9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions and deliver more than £700 million in financial savings for thousands of Welsh companies and public sector bodies. We are very much looking forward to building on our success, together with WRAP Cymru, and continuing to support public bodies and businesses in Wales through the new Resource Efficient Wales service.”

WRAP Director Dr Marcus Gover, added:

“We are delighted to announce that working in partnership WRAP Cymru and Carbon Trust have won the contracts to deliver resource efficiency support to Welsh public sector organisations and businesses of all sizes.

“Both have strong track records of helping organisations reap the benefits of using fewer resources; WRAP Cymru looks forward to working closely with the Welsh Government and the Carbon Trust on what we believe will be a successful and productive collaboration.”
