Research & Development of Generic Soil Manufacture Recipes for Common Extractive Industry and Brownfield Types in Wales (OMK007-202)

This project, when combined with other work being delivered by the wider Organics & EfW programme has the overall objective of building end user and stakeholder awareness and confidence in quality AD and compost products, thereby increasing their specification and usage.

Specifically the work will:
• Increase extractive and construction industry take-up of on-site soils manufacture and restoration aftercare using
   quality organics by :
• The provision of simple, generic soil manufacture instruction, giving recipes and aftercare techniques, for common end
   uses as part of the existing WRAP ‘Good Practice Guide’ (GPG) suite for land restoration.

Background and Scope of Work:
The successful tenderer will be expected to manage a project that will involve the following elements:
• A geographical /geological assessment of Wales’ mineral extraction and brownfield sites identifying similarities in soil
  forming materials availability and restoration requirements across a range of grouped similar sites.
• The use of evidence to provide an annex of addenda to the GPG detailing generic soil manufacture recipes per site type
   and ultimate restoration function as appropriate.
• It is not expected that the value of this work will exceed £10,000 excluding the cost of presenting at events.
