Congratulations Bettina

Beth Winkley

As you can imagine, we’re all very busy at the moment planning for the WRAP Cymru Conference, but I wanted to make time to tell you about some exciting news from Brussels.

I’m extremely proud to announce that WRAP Cymru European Projects Manager Bettina Gilbert has won the European Project Association’s 2013 Award for Outstanding Achievement in Local and Regional Development of the EU.

Bettina manages WRAP Cymru’s ARID project, which is funded by the European Regional Development Programme via the Welsh Government, and funds the development of reprocessing infrastructure and recycling collections for commercial and industrial waste, as well as helping grow the market for high quality recyclate. It focuses on small and medium businesses in the areas of Wales most in need of regeneration.

To date, £3.9 million has been allocated, which will create 133 new jobs.

There’s still more available, though, so learn how to apply.

Alternatively, you can talk to all the WRAP Cymru team at the conference – which will also have a rather European flavour. We’re all looking forward to welcoming our keynote speaker, Welsh Government Finance Minister Jane Hutt, who has responsibility for the Welsh Government’s European-funded projects. There’ll also be a video address from the European Union’s Environment Commissioner Janez Potočnik.

Registration is still open, but most places have already been filled, so if you do want to join us I advise that you register as soon as you can.
