We're Celebrating Wales Sustainability Week

Beth Winkley

For those of you who aren’t aware, 21 to 27 May is Wales Sustainability Week. As you can imagine, everyone here at WRAP Cymru is getting involved, by making pledges about what we’ll do during the week – and over the longer term – to live and work more sustainably. You can find out more about the week here and there are some great workplace tips on the Wales Carbon Footprint site.

The Welsh Government is also encouraging people to unleash their artistic sides and join in the Creative Recycling Challenge. All you need to do is make something out of recycled materials and post a picture of it on Twitter, including the word #walessustainabilityweek

Talking of Twitter, you can find out all the latest WRAP news by following @WRAP_UK . I made jackets out of an old fleece for the two ex battery hens I adopted which will keep them warm until their feathers grow back.

Of course sustainability isn’t just about being green, which is why WRAP Cymru’s business support programme isn’t just about diverting waste from landfill, but about delivering business benefits too. The Business and Markets team will be out and about over the next few weeks; at the Prince’s May Day Summit on 25 May, at the Made in Wales Breakfast on 30 May and at the South Wales Chamber of Commerce Business Exhibition on 14 June.

Don’t worry if you can’t make it to Cardiff though; our fantastic Business Account Managers Bob Smith and Christine Melsher together cover the whole of Wales. We’re also planning some advice events across the country soon, so I hope you’ll be able to join us for those.
