Since WRAP Cymru was established in 2007, we have delivered over £500,000 of capital grant funding to help establish and grow recycling businesses, saved the Welsh construction industry £1.3 million through waste minimisation and supported three new anaerobic digestion facilities, which are projected to divert over 300,000 tonnes of waste from landfill over the next five years.
There is particular emphasis on facilitating the development of strategic reprocessing infrastructure in Wales. To that end WRAP Cymru has developed a more flexible Capital Competition mechanism which offers opportunities to applicants twice a year, targeting a number of different Commercial & Industrial waste streams identified as priorities by the Welsh Assembly Government. We have also developed a suite of innovative support products which complement the existing UK programmes while being specific to Wales, and offer funding opportunities twice a year.
We are very proud of what we have achieved so far but we know that we cannot deliver our vision alone. Much of what has been achieved is down to our strategic partners, not least the continued support of the Welsh Assembly Government, and as we look to the future, we hope to work with our stakeholders to create an even more resource efficient Wales
